BAR HARBOR — The third First Friday Art Walk of the season will take place Aug. 5, from 6-9 p.m., with over 20 participating shops and galleries hosting special events.
On West Street, Art on West will show original oil paintings by sailor David Shepard, and The Maine Lobster will have up whimsical lobster illustrations by Andrew Cook. At Bayside Landing, Jodi Renshaw will be at A Little Mad with her hilarious toy photos.
Earl Brechlin will be at Window Panes near the Village Green with “Forever Yours,” his recently published book of historic postcard images of Mount Desert Island and Acadia. Around the corner at Argosy II, there will be a special preview of Robert Hagberg’s 65th birthday milestone exhibition; Hagberg is an award-winning painter of Acadia.
Farther along Mount Desert Street, the D’Alessio Gallery will show their collection of colorful and whimsical works, the Abbe Museum will display baskets, art, carvings and jewelry by Wabanaki artists, and the Jesup Memorial Library will exhibit local painter Robert Jay’s series entitled “Neighbors.”
Walking maps are available at participating businesses, hotels or at the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce office on the corner of Cottage and Main streets. Flags also show where to go.
