Views of Acadia in photo, paint and glass

BAR HARBOR — Local artists Howie Motenko, Katherine Noble Churchill and Liz Cutler have joined forces for a collaborative art show on display at the Jesup Library for the month of August. An opening reception is set for Friday, Aug. 3 at 5 p.m. at the library.

Inspired by Motenko’s landscape photographs, Katherine Noble Churchill created colorful and bold 30-inch by 40-inch oil paintings, interpreting Motenko’s work.

Liz Cutler, artist and founder of ArtWaves Community Art center in Town Hill, created stained glass pieces inspired by the same photos.

Motenko, a local landscape photographer and founder of Acadia Photo Safari, has enjoyed uniting community with art in past projects including Painting Bridges and Painting Islands.

“The three works of art by each artist, in three different mediums, will surely inspire conversations about art mediums, interpretation and artistic license,” the artists said in a statement.
All artwork is available for sale with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Jesup.
