Tiny Little Band comes back to The Barn

TREMONT — The Barn Arts Collective welcomes back Tiny Little Band – the New York-based theater group led by Stefanie Abel and Jerry Lieblich – who will develop a new piece throughout the week, teach a workshop at the Criterion Theatre on Thursday afternoon and perform at The Barn on Friday night.

Tiny Little Band was in residence at The Barn last season, when they presented “Ghost Stories.” Since then, their work has been recognized with critic’s picks by both TimeOut New York and the New York Times.

While on Mount Desert Island, Tiny Little Band will develop a new piece called “CEO,” which draws inspiration from varied sources including Greek gods, tech startups and an investigation into what it means to be special. They will present work from the development process at The Barn on Friday, July 3, at 7 p.m.

Prior to that performance, the artists will teach a workshop that details their approach to making theater together and shares skills and techniques for making new performance works. The workshop will take place at the Criterion Theatre in Bar Harbor on Thursday, July 2, from 1-2:30 p.m. Participation in the workshop is open to anyone ages 5 and up interested in making theater. The workshop costs $5.

The Barn Arts Collective stages its make-your-own adventure musical “We Run the Ship” at the Criterion twice a week, Thursdays and Saturdays, at 11 a.m.

The Barn is located at 130 Tremont Road in Bass Harbor, and the Criterion Theatre is at 35 Cottage St. in Bar Harbor. Visit www.barnartscollective.com.
