ELLSWORTH — The Eastern Maine Pops Orchestra (TEMPO) will perform holiday music at the Grand Auditorium on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. Members of the Bar Harbor Town Band will be the orchestra’s special guests.
TEMPO’s 32 musicians are middle and high school students from the region, including Searsport, Stockton Springs, Sullivan, Mount Desert Island and Benedicta. That evening, they will be joined by the Bar Harbor Town Band under the direction of Brian Booher. All totaled, 55 musicians will be on stage for the show and audience sing-a-long.
TEMPO Conductors Rebecca Edmondson, music educator at the Conners Emerson School in Bar Harbor, and Ethan Edmondson, music educator at Searsport Middle and High Schools, have selected heartwarming pieces, including waltzes by Tchaikovsky and Waldteufel. The music will take you across the globe to Ukraine and then back to New England, and the TEMPO String and Brass ensembles will play traditional holiday favorites. The audience will be invited to lend their voices to a carol festival sing-a-long.
General admission tickets are $9 for adults/seniors, $5 for youths 12 and under. Advance tickets are available from the box office, 667-9500, or from www.grandonline.org.
