BAR HARBOR — Maine poet Weslea Sidon will read from and sign copies of her debut poetry collection, “The Fool Sings,” at the Jesup Memorial Library on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m.

Christian Barter, himself a Maine Literary Award-winning poet and MDI resident, describes Sidon’s work as “smart and sometimes deliciously snarky, but always looking past smartness towards real wisdom.”

Sidon’s work has appeared numerous publications including “Gulf Stream Magazine” and The New York Times Metropolitan Diary. A recipient of a Martin Dibner Fellowship in Poetry, she is longtime instructor of writing and music at Summer Festival of the Arts and lives on Mount Desert Island with her husband.

This special event is cosponsored by Sherman’s Bookstore, and copies of the book will be available for purchase at the Jesup that evening with a percentage of sales donated to the library.

Call the library at 288-4245 or email lrooney@jesuplibrary.org.
