Shadow box show at MDIHS

BAR HARBOR — An exhibition of illuminated shadow boxes called “The Light of Our Lives” is on view in the Wing Gallery at Mount Desert Island High School through June 18, the end of the school year.

The shadow boxes were created by members of the school’s chapter of the National Art Honor Society, who each spring stage an exhibition of their work.

“The show is best displayed in a darkened gallery, as it is composed of self-illuminated shadow boxes,” said art teacher Charlie Johnson. “The lights are small LED strips that were arranged by the students to best illuminate their work.”

Art teacher Liz Keenan called this year’s Art Honor Society exhibit “the coolest show I have ever seen them do.”
