New art graces Artemis

MOUNT DESERT — Artists Tom Curry, Jerry Rose, Sherry Streeter and Adele Ursone will exhibit their new work in a group show at Artemis Gallery in Northeast Harbor from Sept. 10 to Sept. 25.

Curry’s distinct style is well known from his dynamic and extensive series of island paintings and also from his vivid pastels.

As a shipwright, long-distance sailor and artist, Rose experiences the ocean firsthand. His paintings present landscapes and waterfronts layered with texture and deep with character.

Streeter depicts scenes from the natural world with both a realistic and abstract sensibility, bringing them to life with a strong blend of color.

Primarily an oil painter, Ursone’s spatially unique perspectives of the sea and sky draw the viewer in with curiosity and wonder.

The opening reception for the show will be Thursday, Sept. 10, from 5-7 p.m. Regular hours at the gallery are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 12-5 p.m. on Sundays.
