Music festival’s third week offers opera, chamber music and jazz 

BAR HARBOR — The Bar Harbor Music Festival’s 55th season is going into its third week with an all-in-one weekend offering opera, chamber music and Dixieland jazz. 

On Friday, July 16, at 8 p.m., Bar Harbor Festival Opera presents Mozart’s Così fan tutte, live on stage. Stars of the opera world Alice Anne Light and Chloe Olivia Moore lead the cast in this 18th century romantic comedy about love and betrayal. Other cast members include John Allen Nelson, David Small and festival favorite April Martin, joined by stage director Joseph De Sota and music director Cara Chowning.  

On Saturday, July 17, at 11 a.m., the Ardelia Trio performs a free Young Audience Concert at the Criterion Theatre with Deborah Fortier in her debut acting role as composer Rebecca Clarke. 

At 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, the celebrated trio performs a chamber music program of music by Vivaldi, Beethoven, Rebecca Clarke and Tango composer Astor Piazzolla.  

Returning by popular demand, Dixieland jazz greats the Wolverine Jazz Band performs at the Criterion on Sunday, July 18, at 8 p.m. This seven-piece band will play Dixieland and jazz favorites from the legends of American music.  

Tickets are $30, $15 for students. Pops, Jazz and Gala tickets are $45. Opera tickets are $35, $50 and $80. All tickets entitle the purchaser to a reserved seat. A season subscription for $350 saves 20 percent off the single reserved ticket price for the best seats, as well as entrée to rehearsals and lecture/demonstrations.
