MOUNT DESERT — Malcolm MacKay will discuss his book, “Impeccable Connections: The Rise and Fall of Richard Whitney,” at the Northeast Harbor Library on Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 6 p.m.
Richard Whitney is the Boston Brahmin who was president of the New York Stock exchange in the early 1930s and later went to prison. The book is both a biography of an important figure and an excellent primer on the reasons for securities regulations, a subject often in today’s headlines.
Malcolm Mackay is a lawyer and businessman who, as a boy and young man, knew Richard Whitney in his post-prison years. MacKay has thought all his life about Whitney and why he did what did.
This talk is free and open to the public.
