Library shows more Maine-made movies

TREMONT — The Bass Harbor Memorial Library continues its series of movies filmed in Maine. At 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, and Saturday, May 9, the library will show the 2005 HBO miniseries “Empire Falls,” based on Richard Russo’s novel of the same name.

The full eight episodes will be shown over the course of these two evenings. “Empire Falls” was filmed in Skowhegan, Waterville, Winslow, Lincolnville and Kennebunkport. It stars Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Ed Harris, Helen Hunt and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

The library’s monthly series of movies made in Maine will resume in October. The line-up for next year includes “The Storm of the Century,” “Cider House Rules,” “The Man Without a Face,” “In the Bedroom” and “From Stump to Ship.”
