Jesup to host photo workshops

BAR HARBOR — Photographer Michael Leonard will give a series of talks about how to take better photos at the Jesup Memorial Library Friday, July 27, at 7 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 24, at 7 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m.

The talks, which are being co-sponsored by the Bar Harbor Whale Watch, will take place the day before each of the whale watch’s lighthouse tours.

Each session will break down what is seen as difficult photography concepts and participants will leave the session knowing much more about their cameras. Bring along your camera for this hands-on workshop and Leonard will walk you through the easy changes you can make to instantly help you take better photos. He will talk about exposure, white balance, using the HDR setting, basic composition and more. Leonard also will highlight free apps that you can download on your cell phone to improve your images.

Leonard’s work is frequently seen in books, magazines, annual reports, brochures, textbooks, in television segments and nationally on the Weather Channel. Some of his work has also been seen on the “National Geographic Wild” program.

Come to one session or come to all of them.

These talks are free and open to the public and registration is not required.
