Graphic novelist Jimmy Gownley visits the Jesup

BAR HARBOR — Graphic artist and novelist Jimmy Gownley, the award-winning creator of the “Amelia Rules!” series of comic novels, will be at the Jesup Memorial Library Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m.

Gownley’s presentation moves from his beginnings as a teenage cartoonist in the coal regions of Pennsylvania to the New York Times Best Sellers List and the publication of his latest book, “The Dumbest Idea Ever.” Along the way, he explains the creative process through drawing and personal anecdotes, and how simple events from everyday life can lead to exciting and creative ideas for stories and art.

Come learn from one of today’s hottest graphic novelists and discover the five simple places to look to unlock your own creativity.

This special event is co-sponsored by Sherman’s book store. Copies of Gownley’s books will be available for purchase at the Jesup that evening with a percentage of sales donated to the library.
