Family concert explores local quarrying history

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — The Southwest Harbor Public Library’s summer Family Concert Series continues on Thursday, July 26, at 6:30 p.m. with “The Tut and Jasty Show.” Mount Desert Island quarry workers Tut and Jasty make a visit from the past to show us how to get inventive when working with granite. This show is part of the Summer Story Camp Engineering and Design week, which explores the fun of inventions, even when they fail. The evening will also feature Lego designs built by the campers throughout the week. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

The library’s Family Concert Series takes place at 6:30 on Thursday evenings in July and August.

Now in its 10th year, the library’s Summer Story Camp was created to meet the academic needs of developing readers and writers, to inspire children to see literacy as a form of entertainment and self-expression and to prevent skill loss over the summer.
