BAR HARBOR —The August Art Walk, on Friday, Aug, 7, will kick off with a live concert by “The Joshua Incident” in the Village Green.
The band blends country, folk and Americana into an alt-country sound sure to engage the entire family. Stop by to enjoy their performance from 5:30-6:30 p.m., and let them send you off on the rest of the Art Walk route with tapping toes.
Art Walk welcomes three brand new venues this month. They include Jack’s Jewelry, which offers fine hand-crafted tourmaline jewelry by owners Jack and Sherri Coopersmith and Tea House 278, which features oil paintings by contemporary Chinese artists. Also, Acadia Frameworks, wildlife art and photography by the owner and her family will be on display in their Main Street location.
Our veteran galleries also have some fantastic events this month.
Photographer Tim Rooney will be at Jesup Memorial Library, and local painter Art Gowie will be at Choco-Latte with his pieces that blend influences from comics, toys and cartoons from the ‘70s on. Both the YWCA and Art Waves offer multi-artist shows featuring local artists.
Twenty-eight Bar Harbor galleries and shops are participating.
Maps can be found at most lodging establishments, at participating venues and at the Chamber of Commerce Information office on the corner of Cottage and Main streets.
