Asticou Connection sets artists’ reception

BAR HARBOR — The Asticou Connection Gallery in Town Hill will host a reception for artists from the Quietside, the western half, of Mount Desert on Sunday, Oct. 12, from 5-7 p.m. This month, the gallery will showcase six artists and artisans whose work has a strong connection to the Mount Desert Island region, a reflection of our founding philosophy.

Linden O’Ryan settled in Southwest Harbor in 1985 after traveling and living around the world. Nature, color and the human condition are the focuses of her paintings, along with the themes of connection, inspiration and healing.

John Bryan is a noted architectural and art historian and former professor at the University of South Carolina. A longtime summer resident of Swans Island, his work includes oils, watercolors and sculptures evocative of the Maine coast.

Joe Tracy owns and operates Joseph Tracy Woodworks, a commercial woodworking business. He is best known for his unique and imaginative tables and furniture, which are prized and collected throughout the United States.

Ken Savage, a native of Northeast Harbor, has had a lifelong interest in woodcarving. Mr. Savage studied under Frank Bowers, and his work has been exhibited in the Ipswich Art Association and the Concord Public Library.

Marc Fink paints with oil and encaustic and is also a traditional intaglio print-maker producing original hand-pulled copper plate etchings. He lives in Bass Harbor, and his work represents much of the atmosphere of the Quietside.

Beth Lambert loved to paint and draw as a child. She earned her BFA at the University of Texas and studied with Don Stone in Port Clyde and Monhegan Island. Her art has won “Best of Show” at juried exhibits. Ms. Lambert and her husband now live in Southwest Harbor.

The Asticou Connection Gallery is located in Town Hill at 1302 State Highway 102 adjacent to the Camden National Bank. Light bites and good cheer will be provided. Please join us and meet these creative people.
