BAR HARBOR — Artist Kaitlyn Metcalf incorporates historical images, paint, found objects and even barnacles in her paintings. A sampling of her work, including pieces in her “Maine Men” and “Starboard” series, will be at the Jesup Memorial Library during the month of November.

Metcalf’s Starboard series is a set of paintings of boats on charts of the waters that Maine fisherman sail. Maine Men highlights hardworking Maine fishermen, incorporating barnacles into circular canvases. Her new body of work features scenes of Maine using a variety of media.

Metcalf is a native of New Orleans and graduated from the Maine College of Art in Portland with honors in painting and art history. She now lives Down East and creates at Moss Keep Studio.
