Art walk

BAR HARBOR — First Friday art walks are emerging around the country as an innovative way of introducing communities to the many fine artists that function in their midst. Bar Harbor’s successful and enthusiastic offerings are no exception.

A total of two-dozen venues will take part in this Friday’s art walk, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m. It’s a good chance to get inside a couple fancy bed and breakfasts, check out the latest fashions, and visit some of the town’s newest chops. There’s sure to be a surprise or two along the way.

Special shows include a screening of short films by the Maine filmmakers of Wonder Dog Films at the D’Alessio Gallery, a display of quilted fabric scrolls by Maine artist Patty Olds at Island Artisans, photographs of Acadia and the Down East coast by artist-owner Steve Bart at Katahdin Photo Gallery, and new original work, including lasercut jewelry and house wares by, popular local artist Jennifer Judd McGee at Spruce & Gussy.

More than a dozen other venues will be participating, each with in-store features and events of their own.

For further information, call Linda D’Alessio at 351-5450 or Sherry Rasmussen at 288-4229.

Maps will be available at many locations around town, and online at rdalessio.com/barharborartwalk.
