‘Art in the Park’ booth applications sought

BAR HARBOR — The Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for booth space for the 65th Annual Art in the Park show.

The beauty of Bar Harbor was first captured on canvas in the 1800s by noted American painters. It was these paintings that initially drew the original “rusticators” to Mount Desert Island. Other artists soon followed, and their art continues to inspire new visitors to this day.

Bar Harbor and its surrounding areas support a lively arts community, with resident and visiting artists alike. It is this heritage that the town celebrates with the annual Art in the Park show, slated for June 20-21.

Art in the Park brings together more than 40 artists who will display and sell their original pieces over the weekend on the Village Green in downtown Bar Harbor. Hailing from across Maine and New England, these artists represent a diverse range of styles and mediums in the field of painting and photography.

The chamber is now accepting applications for booth space for its 2015 show. This is a juried show for artists in the field of painting, photography and print-making exclusively. New applicants should submit four images of their work and one of their booth space for consideration with their application, along with a nonrefundable $25 application fee. All new submissions are due by March 13. New applicants will be notified of acceptance by March 27.
