BAR HARBOR — The artwork of Brian James Caine will be on display at the Jesup Memorial Library during the month of April. Caine, who has been a family physician on Mount Desert Island for 35 years, does oil paintings of landscapes, portraits and more.
“Every painting is a new learning opportunity, a chance to capture the beauty I see around me and preserve it on canvas. It is a great source of joy,” said Caine.
He has been painting for about five years after beginning his studies at ArtWaves. While Caine has no formal academic training in painting, he has studied with artists including Mary Ternus, Rob Pollien, Judy Taylor, Phil Frey, Henry Isaacs, Ashley Bryan and others. Caine has also taken workshops with artists including Todd Bonita, Chris Volpe and Alistair Dacey.
He has exhibited his work around MDI at the MDI Hospital, Reel Pizza, Bar Harbor Savings and Loan, the Northeast Harbor Library and other venues.
