MOUNT DESERT — A princess, a green ogre, a talking donkey, a handsome puppet and a cat wearing boots will be at A Fairy Tale Ball hosted by Acadia Community Theater at Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor on Saturday, April 1, from 7-10 p.m.
The local band Clusterfunk is coming out of retirement to play.
Shrek and Princess Fiona will be there for those who want to take selfies. Songs from the upcoming production of “Shrek, The Musical” will be performed. A costume contest for all ages will be held, with judging at 8 p.m. Shrek tickets will be given away as prizes. Winners of the writing contest will be announced. This is a family-friendly event for all ages.
Snacks, desserts and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. Adults are welcome to bring their own adult beverages. There may even be a parfait bar. Tickets are available at the door for $10 per person or $25 per family.
The ball is a fundraiser for Acadia Community Theater, a nonprofit theater group that seeks to enrich the lives of individuals, families and the community by encouraging growth and expression in theater arts and by providing live performances on and around Mount Desert Island. Among other things, proceeds from this event will help to fund ACT’s new scholarship program for one high school senior and one younger person interested in pursuing further education in performing arts.
