BAR HARBOR — The Mount Desert Island High School girls’ tennis team is 1-2, and the boys’ team is 0-3 after the first three matches of the season.

The girls’ team defeated Foxcroft 3-2 in the first contest of the year before falling 4-1 to Hermon in the second. Ellie Bridgers and Maggie Collins won singles sets against Foxcroft for MDI, and Rachelle Swanson and Baylee Cust added a doubles win.

The team lost 3-2 against Ellsworth on Friday. Bridgers beat Ellsworth’s Miriam Nelson in singles, and Swanson and Cust beat the Eagles’ Faith Braley and Sophia Petros.

On the boys’ side, the Trojans lost 4-1 to Foxcroft in the opener before falling to Hermon and Ellsworth 3-2. Max Craigo and Gabe Michel won their sets against Ellsworth by scores of 8-0 and 8-5, respectively.

The next matches for both the boys’ and girls’ teams will be at home against John Bapst today, Thursday, May 3, at 4 p.m.
