Swim team splits with Bangor



BAR HARBOR — The Mount Desert Island High School swim team earned a split with Bangor on Thursday at the team’s penultimate regular-season meet at Bangor High School.

MDI’s boys’ team earned the win with a 97-79 triumph over the Rams. Liam Sullivan (200-yard freestyle), Amos Price (200-yard individual medley), Zeke Valleau (100-yard butterfly), Tyler Willis (500-yard freestyle) and Jacob Mitchell (100-yard backstroke) each earned individual wins for the Trojans.

MDI also won two individual relays’ on the boys’ side. The Trojans topped the hosts with a time of 1 minute, 41.31 seconds in the 200-yard freestyle relay and a time of 3:36.00 in the 400 freestyle relay.

The Trojans lost 103-80 on the girls’ side but still got individual wins from Eliza Schleif (200 freestyle and 100 butterfly) and Maddie Woodworth (100 backstroke). The Trojans won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:01.78.

MDI competes in its final meet of the regular season when it faces John Bapst on the road on Friday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m.
