BAR HARBOR — The Mount Desert Island High School junior varsity track team won three events last Wednesday at the Penobscot Valley Conference junior varsity track and field championships in Brewer.
Julia Rush, a sophomore, recorded a time of 14.16 seconds in the preliminaries to finish first out of 33 runners in the girls’ 100-meter dash. In the final, she posted a 14.19-second finish to earn the win.
Mei Cook, also a sophomore, earned her victory in the girls’ 400-meter dash. Her winning time was 1 minute, 9.42 seconds.
On the boys’ side, MDI won the 4×100 relay with a time of 49.49 seconds. Members of the Trojans’ winning team were Ethan Harkins, Baylor Landsman, Cole Allen and Maddox Laurendeau.
Allen (boys’ 200-meter dash), Darion Williams (boys’ 100-meter dash), Jackson Laws (boys’ javelin throw), Ethan Harkins (boys’ shot put), Jillian Driscoll (girls’ long jump), Lily Philbrook (girls’ discus throw) and Teressa Rozenski (girls’ shot put) earned second-place finishes for MDI JV.
