Zombie survivalist, doomsday preppers trade show set

BAR HARBOR — Forget turning into a zombie while sitting on the couch binge watching AMC’s zombie apocalypse show “The Walking Dead.” Don’t just talk about being a doomsday prepper, learn how to put together a killer bug-out bag and do it!

In celebration of self sufficiency, Maine Preppers, Survivalists and Outdoor Living is hosting a zombie survival event on the weekend of Aug. 29 and 30 at the Atlantic Oceanside Resort on Eden Street.

You won’t find a baked goods table, anything made of yarn or Popsicle sticks, or dream catchers made out of driftwood. It’s going to be all camo, all the time.

A zombie apocalypse dance party is set for Saturday from 2-5 p.m. A zombie make-up table, bee keeping instruction, suture practice and mushroom cultivation kits will be offered. A zombie pub crawl will have offerings of zombie specials from several pubs.

There will also be a tractor-trailer load of military-grade storage containers and ammo cans, as well as vendors hawking information and gear for indoor grow systems for food and medicine.

The show runs from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Entrance fee for 16 and under is $4 and for 17 and over is $8. Visit www.zombiemoose.com or call 1-888-786-0676.
