BAR HARBOR — Learn more about moonrakers and meet author Thomas Freestone, who summers on Mount Desert Island, at a reception for his book, “Adventures of a Moonraker: A Wiltshire Boyhood.” The reception is hosted by Keating and Kim Pepper at the Jesup Memorial Library on Friday, June 12, at 10:30 a.m.
Freestone has been many things, a student in the countryside of England, a hardworking apprentice on a farm and a solider in the Second World War, but he has always been moonraker. This coming-of-age memoir traces his life in the Wiltshire region of England until the beginning of World War II.
