BAR HARBOR — The Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers, famed for their humorous and creative original productions, will take to the stage at the Criterion Theatre to perform the “Legend of the Banana Kid” on Sunday, Aug. 23, at 4 p.m.

A modern take on the classic western, “Legend of the Banana Kid” has the protagonist “Little Chucky” battling “Big Bad Bart” and his band of outlaws with only his bananas and his trusty goat to aid him.

Founded in 2000 by siblings Erik Torbeck, Brian Torbeck and Robin (Torbeck) Erlandsen, Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers have performed at festivals, schools, libraries and theaters throughout the United States and Canada. Their original productions have earned them three Citations of Excellence from the Union Internationale de la Marionette, USA – the highest national award in puppetry.
