MOUNT DESERT — Freelance outdoor photographer and writer Colleen Miniuk-Sperry will speak at the MDI Photo Club’s monthly meeting in the Mellon Room at the Northeast Harbor Library on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at 6:30 p.m.

Miniuk-Sperry was selected three times as an artist-in-residence with Acadia National Park. Her time in Maine led to publication of an award-winning guidebook, “Photographing Acadia National Park: The Essential Guide to When, Where and How.”

During her presentation, titled “The Art of Seeing Differently” Miniuk-Sperry will share her insights on how to record unique and personally meaningful images that transcend the cliché and will talk about how to connect with subjects on a deeper level. She’ll also share tips and tricks for visualizing clear mental images of your picture before snapping the shutter; tapping into individual knowledge, passions and mindful observations as you explore your surroundings; recognizing a flash of perception when it occurs; and then transforming the idea into a creative visual expression.

All are welcome to attend the meeting and presentation. Call George Soules at 244-8034 or email [email protected].
