SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Internationally acclaimed Cape Breton fiddler Andrea Beaton will perform in a concert to benefit the Common Good Soup Kitchen on Monday, May 25. The event will take place at 18 Village Green Way, the red brick building behind the library. The Village Green Trio, three musicians from the Acadia Ukulele Society, will open for Beaton at 6 p.m.
An award-winning fiddler, composer and recording artist, Beaton is known for her powerful bow and driving style. She has released five solo albums, including her 2012 release “Little Black Book.” One of Cape Breton’s most celebrated fiddlers, Beaton comes by her music honestly. Listen to her play, the power of her bow, the drive and swing of her timing, the crispness of her attack. She’s making a name for herself in dance halls, concerts, ceilidhs and festivals.
Money raised from the concert will be used to help Common Good Soup Kitchen relocate from Seawall to its new downtown home.
Admission is $10 for the concert. Beer, wine and light dinner fare will be available. All ages are welcome. Make your reservations now at [email protected] or 804-937-2115.
