MOUNT DESERT — Internationally acclaimed pianist Edmund Battersby will perform a piano recital to benefit Acadia Family Center on Monday, July 13, at 4 p.m. at the home of Neil and Mimi Houghton on Wheelwright Way in Northeast Harbor.
Battersby long has been admired by audiences and critics for his revolutionary performances and comprehensive repertory. His recordings have received the highest praise from Koch International, Musical Heritage Society and Naxos. He performs as a soloist with symphony orchestras ranging from Indianapolis to Pittsburgh, has collaborated with the Vermeer, Tokyo and Orion String Quartets and given critically acclaimed solo recitals in New York, Washington, D.C., London and Dublin. He has been a member of the artist-faculty of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University in Bloomington since 1995. This year’s recital features “Thirty-three Variations on a Waltz of Diabelli,” Opus 120 by Ludwig van Beethoven.
Acadia Family Center has a 37-year history of offering prevention, education and outpatient treatment for people affected by substance abuse, chemical dependency and related mental health disorders on Mount Desert Island, the outer islands and throughout Hancock and Washington Counties.
